Salon Only Sales, a high-end distributor of boutique-brand beauty supplies, came to us for a total rebrand. Their clientele, salon owners and stylists, are creative and fun-loving group. We designed a new logo, color palette and communications system that’s colorful, fun, contemporary and unexpected. Round business cards stand out, and also do double-duty as coasters. (A discreet perforation also allows the cards to fit into a wallet or rolodex.) Bold typography and concept-driven imagery sets the company apart from their more traditional competitors.

Key ideas here were simplicity, bold messaging, and imagery that showed the places and tools that salon owners see every day—locks of hair, scissors, hairpins, and the unwanted “empty chair.”
The client didn’t have the budget for custom screen-printed boxes, but since they were sending out such heavily branded products, there was a strong need for branded packaging. We designed logo-printed tape, mailing labels and round stickers to be placed on every shipment—including not only the Salon Only Sales branding, but (more importantly) their contact information.
The client was already holding “Happy Hours”—educational sessions used to teach clients how to use new product lines. We created a collection of editable templates that they could edit, print, and hang up to promote the events (and build more brand awareness). Other tools: a pocket folder to hold product literature, and branded notepads as a giveaway.
